We've teamed up with BurdaStyle to bring you a series of great Basic and Advanced sewing courses. The sewing community grows by the day, helping to give people the power to create and design their own life. 



Basic Sewing Construction


Nothing beats learning new things that are totally awesome and useful. We all have the perfect item in mind, and can't seem to find it...So why not make it yourself? Learn basic pattern reading, sewing construction and how to use a machine while creating a series of simple and easily alterable pieces.

Materials include everything you need for sewing and construction, as well as developing your personal pattern. However, we encourage students to purchase their own fabric to their liking for the final product.

Intermediate Sewing Construction


The basics are... just the beginning. Hone your sewing and design skills with one or more of these courses. Whether its to start your own career, create the perfect clothes, or nurture a hobby, the sewing never stops. 

Materials include everything you need for sewing and construction, as well as developing your personal pattern. However, we encourage students to purchase their own fabric to their liking for the final product.

Shoe Making 101 - North American Footwear

Shoe making is an age-old craft which has become almost extinct! In this 4 week course, you will work with Mark Schyler to create your own unique pair of leather moccasins and with the twist of applying your own woven material as well. We assure you that they’ll be more hip (and meaningful!) than any pair that you’d ever buy.

Recycling for Jewelry with M2

Tuesdays, 6:30-9PM

Have you seen the work of Margarita Mileva for M2 Jewelry? Who knew rubber bands could look so fantastic! 

Margarita has taken a whole new look at recycling by turning the odds and ends of her architecture office into beautiful jewelry. Let her teach you how you can do the same with regular household items! 

Price: $150 for 4-week course, + $15 materials fee

Fashion Illustration 

Wednesdays, 6-8:30PM
March 9 - 30 

Round out your fashion skills with a perfect portolio. Learn the basics of traditional fashion illustration through hand rendering techniques and to draw the figure and different poses from imagination as well as from a live model. Students will develop a group of croquis (fashion figures) to use as templates to illustrate their designs.

Figure placement and page layout will be taught, as well, as an introduction to color theory as used in fashion design. Students will learn how to illustrate in a multitude of mediums ranging from colored pencil to guache to markers as well as the use of collage.

Price: $165 for 4-week course

Materials:
Please bring a sketch pad and pencils. On the first day you will be provided with a list of recommended supplies for the duration of the course.

Millinery 101 (Hatmaking)

Where can you turn these days without seeing fedoras and panama hats? The answer is nowhere. But how much better would it be with a hat you made yourself? Learn the basics of hatmaking and the many uses of hats in our society and theatrics. It'll be a whole new perspective.
