Intro to Weaving

Wednesdays 6:00-8:30 PM; Saturdays 2:30-5:00 PM

Beginners will learn the basics of weaving on a 4-harness loom, while using color and texture in their designs. Students will wind their own warp, dress their loom, and explore the basic weave structures—including tabby weave and twills.

Price: $300 for 6-week course, + $50 materials fee
Includes Free Open Studio Time for duration of the course

Ikat Weaving (Dye + Weave Combo Class!) FULL

Wednesdays, 6:30-9:00 PM

Ikat weaving is an ancient weaving and dyeing technique, that has been used on almost every continent. In this technique, the pattern of the fabric is obtained by resist-dyeing the warp threads before being woven. The pattern will be appear when the warp is woven, in a very subtle and feathered way.

In the first two sessions students will create their ikat pattern, wind their warp and learn how to dye the warp threads. In the remaining 2 sessions students will learn the basics of weaving on a pre-dressed floor loom and watch their Ikat design come to life!

Advanced Weaving - FULL

Tuesdays, 6:30-9:00 PM
March 8 - April 12

Ready to move on to more advanced weaving? If you've taken Intro to Weaving or have prior experience dressing looms and pattern reading, this class is perfect for you! Students can choose to either focus on double weave techniques, or creating their own pattern draft and completing yardage for future use. 

Price: $300 for 6-week course, + $50 materials fee

Basket Weaving

Basket weaving is the process of weaving unspun vegetable or or synthetic fibers to create a basket, vessel, or other three-dimensional sculpture. In this course we will learn about the various types of basket weaving that exist, and work toward creating a small, usable basket or vessel using one of the methods.
